The Trash Pack Wiki

The Trash Pack was a very popular toy series, and thus, it got its fair share of inauthentic reproductions, mostly found around Europe, especially Central and Eastern Europe. Since most rare figures are characterized by an unusual color scheme compared to their original variants (e.g. Israel exclusive figures or the Barrel of Trashies,) it's useful to know and recognize fake Trashies to avoid thinking we've encountered a heretofore uknown variant of a figure which later turns out to be inauthentic.

Bootlegs can be categorized by their method of production, three of which are going to be described here.

Bootlegs made with molds of official Trashies[]

The most common and oldest form of bootleg, mainly applying to Series 1 figures, and almost exclusively mainline. As in, these bootlegs very rarely concern themselves with forging exclusive or limited edition figures, mostly containing forgeries of common, easy to come accross Trashies from Series 1 such as Awful Pie or Rancid Roach. They were produced by taking molds of existing figures, then using those to manufacture the forged figures.

The sole exceptions to this are the very unchararestic and inexplicable, rare bootlegs of Grub Tub (green) and Wasted Banana (purple.)

These bootlegs can be identified by a close look at their pupils, colorings and paintjobs. Pupils on bootleg Trashies made through this method are almost always uneven and much wider than on authentic ones. Their paintjobs are usually sloppy and made with lower quality paint, causing the base color to show through, and leading to much faster and more drastic flaking of the paint. Their coloration is unusual and made with colors we can't even recognize from the main Series' palette. The most drastic example of this is the pale, gray-ish purple, often given to Bin-fection figures.

These bootlegs are extremely common around areas such as Russia, Hungary and Poland, originating from flea markets and town fair toy stands. These figures are also sold in unusual and easy to recognize Trash cans, like red, pale yellow and pale blue. Their packaging can be from any series, but it's usually anywhere from Series 1 to 6.
